I review a ton of tablets, and a lot of you have asked me to include more affordable options. I’ve never used a Lenovo tablet before, although I did cover the Yoga Book 9i. So today, we’re going to take a look at the Lenovo Tab P12, which you can now get with a stylus for under $250. And thank you to Lenovo for sponsoring this overview.

The Tab P12 features a sleek aluminum chassis that feels premium and durable. At just 6.9mm thick and weighing around 615g, it’s light enough for on-the-go use but sturdy enough to feel solid in hand. I have no concerns about bending, making it a great choice for a family tablet. The display is beveled, which I initially questioned, but after some use, I found it actually softens the edges and is comfortable to hold.
The tablet’s sides house the essentials: a power button with a built-in fingerprint sensor, a USB-C 2.0 port for charging and data transfer, and a microSD card slot for expandable storage. I always appreciate having expandable storage, as it allows for adding extra space when needed rather than upfront. Additionally, the Tab P12 supports facial recognition for authentication, which has been responsive and accurate.
We’re getting four JBL speakers that are Dolby Atmos tuned, offering surprisingly rich and immersive sound. Whether you’re watching Netflix, listening to Spotify, or catching up on podcasts, the audio quality is impressive for a tablet in this price range.
The Tab P12 features a 12.7-inch 3K display with a resolution of 2944 x 1840 and a 60Hz refresh rate. While it’s not an AMOLED display like the Pro model, it delivers crisp visuals, vibrant colors, and relatively wide viewing angles. The peak brightness is 400 nits, and the display has an anti-fingerprint coating, which is a nice touch.
Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 processor, the Tab P12 performs well for browsing, streaming, and light productivity tasks. You can have up to 45 apps running at the same time with five additional floating windows, which is impressive for a budget-friendly device.
For gaming, the Tab P12 works well for casual games, but for more demanding titles like Genshin Impact, you’ll need to lower the settings to maintain an ideal frame rate. It supports Xbox Cloud Gaming, and thanks to its Wi-Fi 6 connection, latency is reduced.
The 10,200mAh battery promises up to 10 hours of mixed-use, and in my testing, it lived up to the claim. The included 21W fast charger ensures you get back up and running quickly.
One of the standout features is PC Mode, which transforms the Tab P12 into a desktop-like experience, complete with icons, folders, and a taskbar. This mode can activate automatically when attaching the optional keyboard case and deactivate when detached.
Speaking of accessories, the Lenovo Tab Pen Plus is included, making this an even better value. The stylus magnetically attaches to the back of the tablet and charges via USB-C. Writing or drawing with it feels firm, similar to writing on paper placed on a hard surface. It also features a remote control mode for taking pictures, playing media, and navigating slideshows.
The keyboard case features a two-part design: a magnetic keyboard and a separate back cover. The keyboard is comfortable to type on, has a responsive trackpad, and includes a full row of function keys. The back cover provides a secure stand and a slot for the stylus. However, like many detachable keyboard cases, it’s best used on a solid surface rather than on your lap.
The Tab P12 comes with an 8MP rear camera with flash and a 13MP front-facing camera. While these aren’t flagship-level cameras, they work well for video calls and casual photos. A face-tracking feature keeps you centered in the frame, which is useful for presentations and video chats.
The tablet launches with Android 13, and Lenovo promises two years of Android updates and four years of security updates—a solid commitment for a budget device.
If you’re looking for an affordable, large-screen tablet that offers solid productivity tools, great multimedia features, and reliable battery life, the Lenovo Tab P12 is definitely worth considering. It’s an excellent value for students, casual gamers, and anyone seeking a versatile tablet that bridges the gap between work and play.
As I always say: Buy it nice or buy twice.
Good luck, and see you soon!
