DJI Osmo Pro / RAW Z-Axis Boat Ride

I recently did a review of the DJI Osmo Pro/RAW Z-Axis. I included very little footage because it was literally the day I got it. I’ve since had a chance to go out and play with it a little more.

I was invited to go out on a boat this past weekend so I figured why not grab my DJI Inspire 1 PRO and the Osmo and get some more footage.

Ultimately I would say that the Z-Axis did help a little when the lake was smooth. When the lake got rough was it got rough, it seemed to be too much and the X5 would hit the top and/or bottom limits of the Z-axis. I found myself just using the Osmo without the Z-axis in those cases.

I wanted to put together a video that would show the whole experience from both the boat and the air. Typically, this wouldn’t be a video I would put out because there isn’t really a lot of action. I did get a chance to play around with different angles and different types of shots. I think one of the most important parts of shooting video is to make sure that you get a variety of different views of the subject matter.

Overall I’m happy with the results of both the Osmo and the Inspire 1 Pro. I would definitely be able to use some of this footage as b-roll if I was putting together a more complete video.
